Sharegate is a management tool for Microsoft SharePoint and Office 365. We help IT admins and power users to migrate to a newer version of SharePoint or to the cloud, to secure the data in their environment and to provide actionable reporting. Our growth is skyrocketing; when I started at Sharegate about 3 years ago, we were only a handful of people and today we have a 18,000 foot square office and a team of over 60 people. Our customer list is also impressive with 10,000 customers all around the world from the Nasa to Tesla.

From day one, Sharegate focused on search engine optimisation as one of its main channel to attract potential customers on our site. We have a really popular blog where we publish content almost daily for our niche market and the amount of visitors is increasing month after months. If you are searching for something related to SharePoint or Office 365 on Google, you’ll certainly find our blog. We became a market leader because we are putting a lot of effort in content marketing and SEO.

Need

Prior to using Positionly, we were using a tool that gave us our ranking on a weekly basis. That was not enough. In order to focus on SEO, we needed our rankings in real-time. Positionly provided that information on a daily basis.

We monitor over 300 keywords everyday, both broad and long tails keywords, so we definitely needed to organize them in some way. Positionly has the ability to gather keywords in groups.

Decision Process

We have an easy decision-making process at Sharegate. As soon as we find a tool that helps us with our productivity and let us achieve more, we buy it. The decision to get on board with Positionly was easy. We had the “almost real-time” data we needed, the UI was easy to use, and it provided us with a timeline of the average position for a group of keywords. We sent an invite to all our marketing team and they started to use the tool and organize our keywords.

Implementation

The implementation of Positionly was quick & easy. Our team first got together to define all the groups we should have and then we simply added our keyword list. We split our 300 keywords into less than a dozen groups. We are then able to monitor our progress for a particular topic and put more work if the growth rate is not increasing enough for us. In no time, we had all the data we needed to stay on top in our market.

We have a list of about 15 keywords that are critical to our business. We monitor our rankings, and the ones of our competitors, everyday. If a keyword moves, we investigate right away and we take action.

Results

With Positionly, we are able to track results of twice more keywords, organized in a way it’s easy for everyone to understand.

With Positionly, we are able to track results of twice more keywords, organized in a way it’s easy for everyone to understand. When we send our growth graph for our list of critical keywords to our CEO, he just understand we are making progress.

In less than a year, we have an increase of 140% in our organic traffic from Google only. Positionly definitely helps us keep track of our keywords and empowered us to react with great speed.
