You’ve probably read tens of posts about content marketing by now. It’s a hot trend these days and that’s because, when done right, it can be an extremely effective way to attract potential customers who enjoy your content so much that they actually end up buying from you.
But creating compelling content isn’t easy, especially when you consider every business out there is trying desperately to attract people’s attention. Unless you can create extremely engaging and interesting content for people who actually need or want your products or services, you’re simply wasting time and probably money as well.
Here are five useful tips to help you create compelling content that can ultimately turn your loyal readers into loyal customers:
Help people out
When it comes to attract customers, empathy is one of the most powerful tools at your disposal. You’ve done your research, know who your customers are and what their problems are so use that information wisely. If you understand the issues they’re trying to solve, you can use your content to help people out.
Don’t just push your products for them to buy, instead provide solutions. If you help people out, they’ll see you in a positive light and this will make them more likely to buy from you in the future.
Be entertaining
You will never have loyal readers if your content is boring. There are loads of great blogs and social media accounts out there, so being dull just won’t cut it. People will always head to the place where they feel engaged, where they can read content that makes them laugh and cry, or that makes them feel motivated and inspired. Even when you’re covering a topic that’s serious or formal, you can still find ways to spice it up and make it more compelling.
Dare to be different
These days it’s difficult to find content that’s written from a different, unusual angle. It’s all the same information presented in the same way with no element of surprise whatsoever. Ask yourself this: why would anyone become a loyal reader of your blog if your content is the same as everyone else’s?
You need to make an effort and differentiate yourself from everyone else. How? Conduct original research, take a different point of view to the one most people in the sector hold, use new ways of communicating information. Do anything that getd your readers excited. You’ll only get people coming back for more if you offer them an amazingly exciting experience
Leave them wanting to come back for more
Don’t share everything in a single piece of content. No matter what type of content you’re sharing with your readers, whether it’s a blog post, a webinar, a video, an e-book or a white paper, don’t crowd all your ideas into one piece. Choose a single main idea and build that piece of content around it. This way you’ll be able to really focus on it and make it awesome. And if it’s awesome, they will come back for more.
Get them to act
Although offering advice is fantastic, try to make sure people are actually following the tips you’re giving them. If your advice works, they’ll come back to thank you and will probably share your content with their friends. This means you need to include a call to action, and ask people to let you know if your tips worked out.
When it comes to content marketing, there’s no room for boring content or laziness. Only when you’re inspired and interesting will you manage to turn readers into paying customers.
